The European Lock for battery-powered locking systems
Battery-powered locking systems place high demands on every component. Installation space is limited, energy consumption directly affects battery life, and reliable operation is essential.
The new Kendrion Ultra Compact Door Lock has been developed specifically for these challenges. Thanks to its innovative shape memory alloy (SMA) technology, it combines an exceptionally compact design with outstanding energy efficiency. Manufactured in Europe, it offers OEMs a reliable and competitive alternative for battery-powered applications such as lockers, parcel lockers, hotel doors, vending machines and medical equipment.

Smaller in size. Big on efficiency. Made in Europe.
The Ultra Compact Lock is based on an innovative shape memory alloy (SMA). To unlock, the wire is activated by a short electrical pulse, releasing a spring-loaded locking bolt. Once the door is closed, the bolt automatically engages again without requiring continuous power. This operating principle minimizes energy consumption while ensuring secure and reliable locking.
The combination of an ultra-compact design of only 45 x 45 x 15 mm and intelligent actuation enables OEMs to develop smaller, battery-powered products with longer service intervals and lower operating costs. Despite its compact dimensions, the UCL delivers a maximum static holding force of 5,000 N and, with an optional shock resistance of up to 300 g, is suitable even for demanding applications such as laboratory equipment or medical devices. Designed and manufactured in Europe, the UCL also offers a reliable supply chain and a commercially attractive alternative for manufacturers looking to combine technical performance with long-term availability.
