Our brake portfolio includes the INTORQ BFK470 and INTORQ BFK458 for azimuth drives, as well as the INTORQ BFK470 and HIGH TORQUE LINE for pitch drives. These brakes ensure precise operations and are designed to withstand challenging conditions, such as humidity, dust, vibrations, strong winds, and gusts. Our Cold Climate Version (CCV) brakes are specifically engineered to handle extreme temperatures, reaching as low as -40°C.

Additionally, our brakes are modular in design, allowing for customization of size, friction lining, supply voltage, and more to meet individual requirements.

Developed for harsh conditions, the IP66-sealed spring-applied brakes can be mounted to the outside of the servo motor. They play a critical safety role in the pitch system as they prevent uncontrolled twisting of the turbine's rotor blades during strong wind gusts.

INTORQ BFK470

The pitch system controls the power of wind turbines, adjusting the position of the rotor blades in relation to the wind. A cold-climate permanent magnet brake integrated into the servo motor prevents the turbine’s rotor blades from twisting uncontrollably in wind gusts.

High Torque Line

Azimuth drives turn the nacelle of the wind turbine into the wind. When the nacelle has reached its final position, the brakes engage. The spring-applied brakes are located under the electric motors’ fan cowl and secure the nacelle in place, even in strong winds or storms.

Electronic modules can improve a brake’s performance. Its overexcitation function, for example, shortens the switching time of the brakes, extending their lifetime.
