Contour inductors
Inductive Heating for Shaped Tool Surfaces
Application and Use Cases
Kendrion contoured heating inductors are inductive heating elements for uniform heating of contoured tool surfaces. Contoured heating inductors are used in plastics processing and in the food industry. Heating is contactless and spatially defined.
Process Effect
The uniform energy input of contoured heating inductors reduces the required wall thickness of heated tool surfaces. The reduced thermal mass increases process dynamics. The increased process dynamics lowers energy consumption.
Design and Operation
Kendrion designs contoured heating inductors on a customer‑specific basis using numerical field calculation methods. The design adapts the inductors to the geometric and thermal requirements of the application. Contoured heating inductors are designed for continuous process temperatures up to 240 °C and operate without water cooling. The absence of water cooling reduces infrastructure requirements and increases operational reliability.
