With the help of OC technology (One Channel), it is possible to make two non-safety-related standard signals usable for safety-related tasks. For this purpose, FIO modules from the analogue input, temperature and speed range have been expanded to include OC communication. The typical signal properties and standard functionalities of the FIO modules remain unchanged.
The data of the FIO OC modules reach the safety PLC via the protected OC communication, in addition to the standard EtherCAT communication. The required diverse communication path is thus met.
The Kendrion Kuhnke safety library for the FIO Safety PLC offers special function blocks that monitor the OC communication, realise the necessary diagnostics and provide the measured values from the grey world in the FIO Safety PLC for safety-relevant applications.
